Search for Feeds with The PixelNews Database Searching is where PixelNews shines. The PixelNews Database is your one stop resource to thousands of feeds, and the intuitive interface makes it efficient and easy to use.

Most News Aggregators expect you to search for the RSS feed in a separate browser. Even Autodiscovery discovers... but it doesn't search.

The PixelNews solution to searching is both more powerful and more simple. PixelNews allows you to search thousands of feeds at the click of a button, to refine the search by category, and to browse by genre and subgenre. Much in the same way you can browse or search by genre in iTunes.

To initiate a search just type a keyword or keyphrase in the toolbar's Search field and hit return. The drop down menu allows you to search "In My Channels", a specific Channel list or the PixelNews Database. The results are displayed, and your search term is highlighted.

The PixelNews Database searches it's database for information for any feed matching the search terms. The database contains more than 100,000 feeds (at release) and contains the information from the RSS/Atom headers, title, url and descriptions and a snapshot of the main page which generated the feed.

You can search the entire PixelNews Database or search within any of the Categories: Blogs, Business, Computing, Entertainment, Health, Life & Leisure, News, Politics, Shopping, Sports and Technology. Searches are returned in the top ten order of relevance, with the option of hitting "More" to continue viewing results. PixelNews allows the drag and drop of feeds, Autodiscovery in the embedded browser and, of course, feeds can be added manually. You can also chose to add new feeds to our database for other customers to enjoy

Save Searches with Smart Channels Want to be notified when a certain digital camera is talked about? Want to keep a close eye on a hot news story? Smart Channels save your search terms and keep a live watch for them so that you will be the first to know when it appears in a feed again.

The unread news total for all Smart Channels is badged on the Smart Channel icon on the toolbar, and the Dock icon can be configured to show only the number of new Smart Channel results.

Any search can be saved as a Smart Channel or simply by selecting 'New Smart Channel' in the File Menu.

Browse Feeds Browsing for feeds in the PixelNews Database is easy. Categories are broken down into subcategories to help you find what you're looking for. Then, get an instant view into each resulting feed. If you like it, add it to one of your Channels!

Rich Data Using the WebKit to display the news summaries allows each PixelNews Channel to display Rich Data: images, audio, animated gifs, and even video. This content rich environment will mean that you may not need to use the embedded browser, and it allows PixelNews to seamlessly handle the modern content rich feeds from RSS 2.0 and Atom, including enclosures. When you click on a headline or link in a feed, the web page is displayed in the PixelNews embedded browser, where there's forward and backward buttons to navigate. There's also a SnapBack button to return to the original Channel display view. Each Channel has has it's own webview, so if a page is slow to load, you can quickly switch to and read another Channel's news, and then switch back. A bit like tabbed browsing.
